An interesting lens to frame the world. Are you suggesting that this stance of equanimous awareness might be cultivated through the mechanism of experiencing repeated and constant frustration/failure, while maintaining commitment to a goal? A kind of resilience?

Does the removal of many essential repetitive human survival tasks through modern convenience (vehicles over walking, markets over foraging) erode the connection between humans and this stance? Are there other games than music we can use to approach this stance?

I like that you have offered a perspective that leads to more questions rather than decrying a great answer. An invitation to think more about our relationship to experience and existence is a welcome one.

Thanks for the comments Adam :). I think a lot of modern conveniences can be thought of as technological solutions alternatives to equanimity. Of course, I have no foundational moral issue with technology (we are creatures who make things), but to the extent technology is an attempt to achieve escape velocity from wanting it's a fool's errand.

And I'm glad you like the style! I've been really inspired by essayists who write with indeterminacy and ambiguity in the back seat. Adam Phillips comes to mind.
